Dear Sicomac Families,
Autumn weather is officially here and so is our Harvest Fest! I look forward to seeing everyone this afternoon in our parking lot and fields for this beloved Sicomac tradition. Please note that parking will be limited at dismissal today due to the event, so plan accordingly for pick-up.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing parents for bringing such wonderful fall energy into our school. The decorated pumpkins are absolutely brilliant, and the Harvest Fest will be another special community event. A special shout-out goes to PTO Green Team for refreshing our outdoor classroom and entranceway with beautiful seasonal flowers and landscaping. Sicomac is looking great inside and out!
Eagle Eye on Learning
Second graders are doing fantastic work in math as they dive into solving two-step word problems with confidence and creativity! Students are exploring multiple strategies to find solutions, using tools like number lines, tens frames, and counters to show their thinking in different ways. Through engaging class discussions and sharing their strategies with their classmates, students are learning that there’s more than one way to solve a problem, and that every strategy helps deepen understanding. The class is also connecting math to real-world examples, making learning both meaningful and fun. We are so proud of their growing problem-solving skills and the excitement they bring to every math lesson!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on November 10th and 17th. Conferences will run from 12:15–8:00 p.m. on November 10th and 2:00–7:00 p.m. on November 17th. You should have received sign-up directions earlier this week. If you haven’t yet scheduled your conference, please check your email or reach out to your child’s teacher. We look forward to connecting with you!
Halloween Parade
Looking ahead to the end of the month, our Halloween Parade will take place on Friday, October 31st, at 2:00 p.m. Students may wear costume parts that are safe and comfortable for learning, recess, and PE. Any additional pieces or accessories can be brought in a bag and put on before the parade. Please remember that toy weapons or items that could cause safety concerns are not permitted. We can’t wait to celebrate this fun Sicomac tradition with you!
