Dear Sicomac Families,
Our first full week of school is officially in the books—and what a week it was! Even though the weather tried to interfere with Picture Day, in true Sicomac fashion we were ready. We pivoted with flexibility, and the results were fantastic.
With a full week behind us, routines are in place and expectations are set. It has been a joy to walk through the building and see your children laughing, making friends, and trying new things. Our “You Belong Here” theme has been personified by students and staff as they bring this message to life in their classrooms and around the school.
Eagle Eye on Learning
This week, students in grades 1–5 began the iReady Diagnostic, which gives us a baseline for learning in both reading and math. This adaptive test helps us understand each child’s unique strengths and areas for growth, allowing us to provide truly individualized instruction. The information we gain will guide our teaching and ensure that every student receives the support and challenge they need to grow.
Shout-Outs & Spotlights
Our Families – Thank you for your support, encouragement, and partnership. We can feel the positive energy, and your children are thriving because we are working together as one team. We are grateful for the strong start you’ve helped us build. Let's keep up the momentum!
Teachers & Instructional Aides – There is nothing quite like planning and preparing for the first week of school. Our staff did an incredible job working collaboratively, staying flexible, and laying the foundation for a great year ahead.
Safety Patrol – You may have noticed our 5th grade Safety Patrol helping at the doors during arrival and dismissal, but their presence extends even further that that. We have 31 fifth graders stationed throughout the school, making sure younger students arrive safely to class and unpack with ease. It’s been heartwarming to watch younger students look up to their 5th grade leaders. We are so proud of our patrollers! In October we will have another cohort of Safety Patrol keeping our building safe and controlling. Special thanks to Mrs. Cordello for organizing the crew.
Reminders for Families
Attendance – Consistent attendance is at the core of a strong education. Please make every effort to ensure your child arrives on time each day. Families whose children are at risk of chronic absenteeism will hear from me so we can work together on a plan for improvement. Please review our Attendance Policy for more information.
Dress Code – Please review Wyckoff's dress code policy with your child. Thank you for your cooperation.
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures – Thank you for helping keep arrival and dismissal safe and smooth. Please review our arrival, dismissal, and parking lot procedures. Remember that the upper circle is reserved for Pre-K families and buses ONLY. Buses must always have access to this loop. While we welcome feedback about parking, our top priority will always be the safety of students and families. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
