Summer Reading

The district Reading Specialists worked to compile a slideshow of helpful resources to support your child over the summer months.  Please find the slideshow linked here.

Here are some additional quick tips and suggestions:

  • Family Read Aloud: Try reading a chapter a night together before bed!

  • On a long car ride?...Sitting by the campfire? Create a story together! Choose realistic or silly characters, the setting, and then brainstorm a problem and solution. Your child will benefit from hearing your additions to the story!

  • Fun Writing!! Send a postcard or letter, share a recipe, or keep a scrapbook of reviews of summer adventures!

  • Keep a summer gratitude journal. This is especially fun to look back on when they’re older!

Relax and enjoy some precious leisure moments while modeling your own reading life!  Wishing you a wonderful summer break!
