Please join me in wishing Mrs. Geary health and happiness in her upcoming retirement. After 13.5 years as a speech-language specialist at Coolidge and Eisenhower Schools, Mrs. Geary will be retiring at the end of December. Best of luck! More information will be provided to the parents of Mrs. Geary's students as we plan for a smooth transition to a new speech-language specialist.
The third graders have been learning about the different genres in Media class. We started with realistic fiction and historical fiction, read the spooky Baba Yaga folktale to get in the Halloween spirit and tried to solve some mysteries. Next, we will read nonfiction and poetry books with a Thanksgiving theme and then move on to fantasy, science fiction, fables, and biography. My hope is that they will try to read a variety of genres instead of always sticking to the same ones. It's so much fun introducing the students to so many different kinds of books!
Coolidge School is supporting the Ramapo High School Holiday Festival by collecting new winter gloves, mittens, and socks. These items will be given to elementary school children from the Paterson Public Schools when they visit Ramapo High School in early December. A collection box has been placed in the Coolidge front foyer. Donations will be accepted until December 2nd. Please consider giving to spread some holiday cheer!
