2nd grade halloween class photo

It was wonderful seeing all of the students dressed up in their costumes on Halloween. Thank you to all of the class parents who organized fun games, crafts, or activities in each of our homerooms. I hope all of the students had an enjoyable Halloween!

Coolidge School will recognize Election Day and Veterans Day this week. Students will spend time discussing the importance and significance of both days in the classroom with their teachers as part of age-appropriate lessons. Coolidge School would like to honor and say thank you to all of the veterans in our school community.

With an emphasis on personalizing learning, Coolidge School teachers regularly assess their students with the purpose of differentiating and providing small group and individualized instruction as often as possible. Our goal continues to be to get to know our students as both individuals and learners.

Thank you to the Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary for visiting with our third-grade students this week and providing each one with their very own dictionary. Our students learn so much about the importance of community, volunteerism, and goodwill from your visits!

Coolidge students are thoroughly enjoying the new Gaga Pit that was donated by the Coolidge PTO and was recently installed on our grounds. During recess, students enjoy a lively game of Gaga and are learning the importance of sportsmanship, honesty, and following rules. Thank you to PE teachers Ms. Paton and Ms. Reitano for teaching the rules during PE classes so all students are prepared for recess.

The Fourth-grade Recorder Choir Concert is next week, Tuesday, November 8th! Families are invited to come to watch the students showcase their singing and recorder skills in a short informal performance. This will be a brief 15-minute concert and there are no dress requirements for the students. Gym doors will be open for families to enter starting at 9:15. The concert will begin at 9:30. We can't wait to see you there!

STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS SELECTED

Coolidge School 4th and 5th-grade students voted this week to elect Student Council Officers for our Executive Board. In total, 18 fifth-grade students campaigned, wrote speeches, and ran for the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. All of these students should be commended for their bravery and willingness to take part in the democratic process. Congratulations to Tommy (President), Jayne (Vice President), Nola (Treasurer), and Olivia (Secretary). Class representatives were also selected. Student Council meetings are open to all 4th and 5th-grade students as we want to create an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and all students can contribute. Here is the schedule for Student Council meetings for 4th and 5th graders
