At last week’s schoolwide meeting we kicked off the Week of Respect by talking about class and school rules (also referred to as promises, expectations, pledges, class constitution, etc.). Students enjoyed viewing class rules from each homeroom and then discussing what our school-wide “Cougar Constitution” looks, sounds, and feels like throughout the day. The student body affirmed our “Cougar Constitution” with a thunderous round of applause! Here is the presentation from our schoolwide meeting.
As a reminder, and for planning purposes, Parent/Teacher conferences will take place on the afternoon and evenings of 11/2 and 11/16. Both days are minimum days for students. Parents should be on the lookout for an email from their child(ren)’s classroom teacher at the end of this week to sign up for a conference. Should you like to schedule a conference with a staff member other than your child’s homeroom teacher during these days please reach out directly to that staff member. Here is our staff directory.
Halloween is fast approaching and will be here before we know it. I wanted to remind parents that our annual Halloween Parade will take place at 2:30 on October 31st. More information to follow.
Fifth graders take on extra responsibilities in the Media Center. Every student adopts a shelf or two and is responsible for keeping them in order and neat. They will be making professional-looking book ads that will hang in the hall and in the Media Center in order to spread the word about must-read books. Some students also volunteer to participate in Library Club, which meets every few weeks during recess time; those students do all kinds of different tasks to help keep the Media Center neat and running smoothly. Mrs. Needleman is so grateful for all of the fifth graders' help!
