Students should be congratulated on a great first week back. As I walked around the school I observed smiling faces, engaged students, and the buzz of a new school year. On Friday, we held our first school-wide meeting. It was wonderful to get together as a student body to welcome in the new school year, greet our new students/staff, and rekindle some traditions. Best of luck to all for an amazing 2022-2023!
Students are also easing into the routines of our enhanced schedule. Highlights include an additional physical education period weekly, a world language (every other week) and technology (every week) class for all K-5 students, increased supervision at recess/lunch, and more dedicated time for small group instruction and intervention.
Back to School Night will take place on Tuesday, September 20th. Please mark your calendars. More specific information and a schedule will be distributed this week.
Coolidge School honors Patriot Day on September 11th as we remember those who died on 9/11/2001 and thank the brave men and women who help keep us safe. In a developmentally appropriate manner, classroom teachers will recognize the day as a way to give thanks to the men and women who keep us safe and free every day.

New Jersey school districts will administer the NJ Start Strong assessments once again this fall for all students in Grades 4-8. The Start Strong assessments are based on prior-year academic standards and serve to inform teachers and families of students’ academic needs at the beginning of the school year. These online assessments cover English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science (Grade 6 only), and take approximately 45-60 minutes to administer. Elementary testing in WSD will take place on September 28th and 29th with make-ups on September 30th. Middle school testing begins on September 19th.
