5th grade girls

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Back-to-School Night presentations last week. It was wonderful to see you as we welcome in a new school year and work together to provide a year of learning and growth for our students. We truly value the home-school connection and look forward to a wonderful year of collaboration. If you missed my presentation at Back to School Night, here is a slideshow of photos highlighting a day at Coolidge School.

As a reminder, School Picture Day will take place on Monday, September 22nd (tomorrow). I look forward to seeing all of our smiling faces for the photos! Click here to see the flyer from Rod Bolten Photography.

I-Ready diagnostic assessments have been completed for students in grades 1-5. An email with more information about accessing your child’s scores will be sent during the upcoming week. Kindergarten i-Ready diagnostic assessments will take place in early October.

Welcome back to school from the Coolidge Media Center! The Media Parent Volunteer Program will continue this school year. Sign-ups will be linked in next weekend’s update on our new media center website!

ATTENDANCE AWARENESS

September is Attendance Awareness Month. Here is a resource from the National Association of Elementary School Principals that outlines “9 Tips to Build a Habit of Good Attendance” that may be of interest to you. Regular and consistent school attendance enhances social and academic growth and achievement in our students.

DRESSED FOR SUCCESS

Per the Wyckoff Board of Education Dress Code Policy, “hats, hoods, visors, and other headgear”, including baseball hats, are not permitted to be worn in school. Students may wear these items when outside for recess or on designated spirit days. Additionally, “extremely low-cut, tight-fitting or transparent clothes, bare midriffs, and suggestive clothing” are prohibited and should not be worn.

WEF COLOR RUN- SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH

Parents are encouraged to sign up for the upcoming WEF Color Run, which will take place on Saturday, September 27th at 11:00 AM at Eisenhower Middle School. The Wyckoff Education Foundation (WEF) has donated thousands of dollars to our schools through the years. Most recently, WEF has donated money to help upgrade our media center, and is working hard to raise additional funds to complete this initiative. Please come out to the Run to support this cause.

Coolidge School would like to win the prize for the highest participation. See below and Go Cougars!

This year’s contests include:

  • Top School Challenge: Winning school receives a $500 bonus donation to their PE program.

  • NEW Class Challenge (Elementary Schools): The top fundraising class at each of the four elementary schools will enjoy an ice cream treat at the Color Run, a great way to celebrate together.

  • And of course, the crowd-favorite: the student who raises the most money at each school will get to “Blast” their principal!
