students

Students should be proud of their efforts in acclimating to the new school year and the fall routines. It was great reconnecting with so many students during the first three days of school, and I look forward to watching them grow as learners this year! On Friday, we celebrated our first schoolwide meeting of the year, where we welcomed new students and staff, discussed our Hopes and Dreams, and reviewed the Cougar Constitution

Be sure to mark your calendars! The Coolidge School Back to School Night will take place on September 16th, starting at 6:30 PM. More information will be provided shortly. We look forward to welcoming parents into our learning community!

On Thursday, September 11th, Coolidge School will recognize “Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance”. All students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in honor of this day. A daily Words of Wisdom will be read, and teachers will engage students in age-appropriate discussions focused on heroism, service, and patriotism. We honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11th, and keep in our thoughts all who were affected.

As a reminder, school arrival should occur between 8:35-8:50. The school day begins promptly at 8:50 with attendance, morning routines, and morning meeting. Being on time for school is a big deal for your child's success. When students arrive promptly, they're ready to start their day with their classmates, getting all the important information they need for the day's lessons and activities. Arriving late can cause them to miss key instructions and morning routines, and interrupt the learning of classmates.

The Wyckoff Education Foundation is hosting its third annual “Color Run” Saturday, September 27th at Eisenhower Middle School. Registration is now open, and flyers were sent home with your student last week. On-site registration time is at 9:30 am, and the run begins at 11:00 am. I hope to see many of you there, where you can see me get “blasted” with color!

MILK ORDERS FOR YOUR CHILDREN

Our district will again use an online milk payment method.  Payment must be made using PaySchools Central.  If you are not already registered for PaySchools Central, you may do so by logging on to www.payschoolscentral.com and selecting “Register” and following the prompts.

Please note that you will need your child’s 6-digit Student ID#, which is located on the Parent Portal in Genesis next to your child’s picture.  If you have difficulty logging on to the Genesis Parent Portal, please contact the Genesis Helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org.  We will also accept checks for payment that can be sent in through the school to the front office and made out to Wyckoff Board of Education.

Milk

Milk is offered to grades K-5 daily.  You can purchase milk for the entire year. Milk options are 1%, skim, and chocolate.  Please indicate your choice. Milk will begin Monday, September 16th.  The total cost is: $110.00.

If you have any questions, please contact Randi Venema at 201-848-5710 X1202.

ATTENDANCE

Here is the 2025-2026 student calendar. Please remember to plan vacations, appointments, etc. Absenteeism rates for school-aged children have risen throughout the United States since the pandemic.

Although it is understood that children may need to miss school occasionally due to illness or other reasons, the importance of regular attendance cannot be overemphasized. Regular attendance is essential to a child's academic and social growth. Students who frequently miss school lose valuable learning time, exposure to class content, and opportunities to develop positive relationships with their classmates.

Wyckoff Board of Education Policy and Regulation #5200 outlines our attendance policies and defines excused and unexcused absences. For cumulative, unexcused absences of ten or more, a pupil between the ages of six and sixteen is truant, according to N.J.S.A. 18A:38.27. Additionally, chronic absenteeism is defined by the New Jersey Department of Education as being absent for 10% or more of the days enrolled during the school year, regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused.

SAFETY REMINDERS

Please take note of the following safety reminders:

  1. Per the Wyckoff Town Ordinance, dogs are not allowed on school property. If you bring your dog to school for pick-up or drop-off, please stay back towards the sidewalk.

  2. Drive carefully in our parking lots and the streets adjacent to the school during drop-off and pick-up. Let’s be courteous to our neighbors living on the streets around the school.

  3. Scooters are not allowed to be driven on school property. Also, students and parents are asked to walk their bicycles when on our blacktop areas, as it is dangerous for others when bicycles are driven. Remind your children of this!

  4. The custodian or Office Rob will close the main lot at the end of the day when it is filled. This is done for safety reasons. Please plan accordingly.

  5. The lot to the left of the school near the upper playground is designated for staff.
