1ST ANNUAL TURKEY TROT- COOLIDGE PE DEPARTMENT

Our Coolidge School community will host our 1st Annual Turkey Trot on Tuesday, November 19th during the school day. On this day, each grade level will go outside to walk, jog, or run laps around the backfield during a thirty-minute period. This event will help raise awareness in our students about food insecurity and rally support for local families. We hope to instill gratitude for our blessings and give thanks by making a turkey donation to support others in need. With that in mind, please consider donating a frozen turkey on behalf of the event. The frozen turkey drop-off will be on Friday, November 22nd on the front lawn of the school from 8:00-11:00 am. All donations will be given to the Center for Food Action to create holiday dinner baskets for families in need.

Please refer to this flyer for more information.

SCHOOLWIDE MEETING

Coolidge School held its November schoolwide meeting this past week. The Student Council Executive Board worked with Mr. Famularo to run this meeting where they introduced themselves, shared their plans for the year, and engaged the student body in a greeting. Additionally, the Executive Board wrote a speech and made a special presentation for Veteran’s Day where they thanked our very own Officer Rob for his service in the United States Marine Corps. All students will be signing a special banner that was created in art class. A special thank you goes out to all veterans for their sacrifice, bravery, and courage in defending the rights and freedoms we have in our country.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

By now, you should have arranged a time and date for a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher. If you would like any other staff members present please let your child’s teacher know. Additionally, feel free to reach out to any special area teacher or other staff member via email to set up a separate conference with them. The Staff Directory can be found here

Here are some reminders and guidelines on how you can make the most out of your upcoming conference:

● Parents should enter via the main entrance and sign in at the office. You will need your driver’s license. Be prompt and contact your child’s teacher immediately if you have to reschedule. Arriving late to a conference will only allow for a shorter conference since our teachers are on a very tight schedule and don’t want to cut into anyone else’s conference time.

● Before the conference, think about any questions you might have and consider emailing the teacher ahead of time so he/she can be prepared to discuss your questions.

● Fall conferences are a time to discuss progress and map out goals for what’s ahead. It’s only November, so your child should be approaching grade-level standards and may not have mastered them at this time. Be realistic about their goals, celebrate what your children are doing well, and share a growth mindset for what’s ahead.

●  If you have questions that you know will go beyond your allotted time, respectfully request that you have a follow-up phone call.

Keep the lines of communication open with your child(ren)'s teachers and the school throughout the year. It is when we communicate, collaborate, and work together that we see tremendous student growth and progress.

Most importantly, don’t forget to celebrate with your child after the conference. Have a conversation with your child to let them know how proud you are of them and share goals and anything you hope to do to continue supporting their growth as a partner with the school. We look forward to seeing you all at the November conferences!
