Last week I visited grade 3-5 classes to discuss some important school rules and to review expectations for the upcoming year. Students were attentive and seemed ready and prepared for the year ahead! Visits to grades K-2 are being planned.
SCHOOLWIDE MEETING AND COUGAR CONSTITUTION
We held our first schoolwide meeting last week where we welcomed twelve new students and eight new staff members to the Coolidge Community. Additionally, before singing our “Cougar Pride” song and “Happy Birthday” we had the opportunity to review our Cougar Constitution. Signs are being made to hang throughout the school.

IREADY DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENTS
This year Coolidge School will be utilizing a new diagnostic assessment tool for grades 1-5. The following information was taken from the i-Ready website.
I-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows your teacher(s) to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains. i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. The purpose of this is not to give your student a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your student’s learning.
I-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill levels and needs, so your students can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your students engaged as they learn.
MILK ORDERS FOR YOUR CHILDREN
Our district will again be using an online method to pay for milk. Payment must be made by using PaySchools Central. If you are not registered for PaySchools Central, you may do so by logging on to www.payschoolscentral.com and select “Register” and follow the prompts.
Please note that you will need your child’s 6-digit Student ID# which is located on the Parent Portal in Genesis next to your child’s picture. If you have difficulty logging on to the Genesis Parent Portal, please contact the Genesis Helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org. We will also accept checks for payment that can be sent in through the school to the front office and made out to the Wyckoff Board of Education.
Milk
Milk is offered to grades K-5 daily. You can purchase milk for the entire year. Milk options are 1%, skim, and chocolate. Please indicate your choice. Milk will begin on Monday, September 16th. The total cost is: $110.00.
If you have any questions please contact Randi Venema at 201-848-5710 X1202.
