We are off to a great start! Students should be proud of their efforts in acclimating to a new school year and the routines and norms of fall. It was great reconnecting with so many students during the first two days of school and I look forward to watching them grow as learners this year!
On Friday, Officer Rob Rapp was sworn in as the new SLEO III at Coolidge School. Officer Rapp retired from the Mahwah Police Department after 25 years of service. Before his police career, Officer Rapp served with the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. We are so happy to have Officer Rapp join the Coolidge Community. Please join me in welcoming him this week.
We will have our first Schoolwide Meeting this Tuesday. All students and staff are encouraged to wear spirit wear or blue/yellow to help welcome in the new school year!
Here is a simple overview of start times in the Wyckoff Schools for regular dismissal days, minimum days, and delayed openings to reference throughout the year.
On Wednesday, September 11th, Coolidge School will recognize the “National Day of Service and Remembrance”. A daily Words of Wisdom will be read and teachers will engage students in age-appropriate discussions focused on heroism, service, and patriotism. We honor, and remember, those who lost their lives on September 11th, and keep in our thoughts all who were affected.
Students are required to wear sneakers to participate in Physical Education classes. Crocs, boots, or sandals are not permitted for PE class. Click here for more information.
Our district will again be using an online method to pay for milk. Payment must be made by using PaySchools Central. If you are not registered for PaySchools Central, you may do so by logging on to www.payschoolscentral.com and select “Register” and follow the prompts.
Please note that you will need your child’s 6-digit Student ID# which is located on the Parent Portal in Genesis next to your child’s picture. If you have difficulty logging on to the Genesis Parent Portal, please contact the Genesis Helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org. We will also accept checks for payment that can be sent in through the school to the front office and made out to the Wyckoff Board of Education.
Milk is offered to grades K-5 daily. You can purchase milk for the entire year. Milk options are 1%, skim, and chocolate. Please indicate your choice. Milk will begin on Monday, September 16th. The total cost is: $110.00.

Here is the 20024-2025 student calendar. Please keep in mind when scheduling vacations, appointments, etc. I am sending this reminder as we have seen absenteeism rates for school-aged children increase throughout the United States since the pandemic.
Although it is understood that children may need to miss school occasionally due to illness or other reasons, the importance of regular attendance cannot be overemphasized. Regular attendance is essential to a child's academic and social growth. Students who frequently miss school lose valuable learning time, exposure to class content, and opportunities to develop positive relationships with their classmates.
Wyckoff Board of Education Policy and Regulation #5200 outlines our attendance policies and defines excused and unexcused absences. For cumulative, unexcused absences of ten or more, a pupil between the ages of six and sixteen is truant, according to N.J.S.A. 18A:38.27. Additionally, chronic absenteeism is defined by the New Jersey Department of Education as being absent for 10% or more of the days enrolled during the school year, regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
