4th grade girls in the woods on global school play day

Students should have come home tired on Friday as they spent the day engaged in unstructured supervised play as part of Global School Play Day. It served as a great learning experience as students navigated conflicts and created their fun for the day. Teamwork, sportsmanship, ingenuity, and creativity were on display.

As National School Counselor Week comes to a close, I want to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation to Mrs. Mapes for her dedication to our students' well-being and success. Please join me in extending our gratitude to Mrs. Mapes for her outstanding contributions to our school community.

As a reminder, the school doors open at 8:35. Students should not arrive at school before that time (unless they are here for a before-school activity) as there is no supervision for students who are waiting outside.

Message from Mr. Cosman regarding the school musical rehearsals: Check out the updated February Calendar for this week's upcoming musical rehearsal schedule. Performers should enter through the gym doors for staging rehearsals at 8:20.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION 2024-2025

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. A mailing was recently sent to all Wyckoff residents. Check out our registration page on the District website to get your documents ready and register online between January 27th and February 14th. Please spread the word to neighbors and friends who do not already have children in the Wyckoff Schools. Registering by February 14th allows us to plan properly for the next school year.

VALENTINE’S DAY

Valentine’s Day is this week! As a reminder, food or goody bags are not permitted to be brought into school to be shared with classmates. Students in grades K-3 typically give a card to each classmate (be sure there is a card for each child in the class). No food may be attached to the cards but, if you want, students may attach a simple non-edible item such as a sticker or a pencil. Students in grades 4-5 do not exchange cards in school but teachers celebrate the holiday with their students in different ways.

READ ACROSS AMERICA

Coolidge School will celebrate Read Across America during the week of March 4th. We have planned several fun activities throughout the week to celebrate reading. Some of these include student presentations at our schoolwide meeting, a Student Council Book Drive, schoolwide book buddies, an outdoor book walk, and an author visit from Coolidge alumnus Robert Skead. Additionally, we will celebrate the week with some fun Spirit Days. Thank you Mrs. Needleman for helping to organize all of these events.

AUTHOR VISIT- ROBERT SKEAD

Thanks to the generosity of the PTO, we are going to have a second author visit this year. Robert Skead, a former Coolidge student and current Wyckoff resident, will be coming on March 8th for the culminating activity during Read Across America Week. Students will get to hear how a student who used to sit in the same gym became an author. Once again, you will have the opportunity to order autographed books if you want them. Please return the book order form by February 28 to Mrs. Needleman if you are interested.
