3rd graders reading

Our 1st and 5th Grade “Book Buddy Party” was held on January 30th. The 1st and 5th-grade students celebrated their reading achievements with their book buddies. Additionally,  students participated in a charity activity through the local Families for Families Organization. Working together, 1st and 5th graders assembled "Birthday in a Bag" kits for children who may not otherwise be able to celebrate their birthdays. The students also decorated handmade cards to include in the Birthday Bags.

Message from Mr. Cosman regarding the school musical rehearsals: Check out the updated February Calendar for this week's upcoming musical rehearsal schedule.

February 1st marked the beginning of Black History Month. At Coolidge School, we have worked hard to transform our teaching to incorporate diversity and diverse viewpoints throughout the curriculum and the year. We look forward to utilizing this month to celebrate and honor Black History Month.

The Cougar’s Cave is a fifth-grade broadcast created by Coolidge 5th graders under the direction of our technology teacher, Mrs. Provost. This year, each class will partake in generating ideas for the episodes, writing scripts, and filming in front of a green screen. Enjoy Episode 2 of the Cougar’s Cave created by 5J.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION 2024-2025

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. A mailing was recently sent to all Wyckoff residents. Check out our registration page on the District website to get your documents ready and register online between January 27th and February 14th. Please spread the word to any neighbors and friends who do not already have children in the Wyckoff Schools. Registering by February 14th allows us to begin properly planning for the next school year.

STUDENT COUNCIL FOOD DRIVE

This February, the Coolidge Student Council looks forward to spreading the love to their local community by partnering with the Social Service Association of Ridgewood! This organization serves the local communities of Glen Rock, HoHoKus, Midland Park, Ridgewood, Waldwick, and Wyckoff. Students and families are encouraged to bring in the following items that will be donated. Items are divided by grade. Students can put their items in the collection bins outside their classrooms. The collection will take place from February 5-9th.

Food Drive Items By Grade:

K- Rice products (bagged and boxed) and snacks

1- Boxed milk and cereal (cold or hot)

2- Coffee, tea, and condiments

3- 100% juice (bottles, cans, boxes) and canned fruit

4- Pasta sauce, tomato products, and snacks

5- Canned meats (chicken, ham, spam, tuna) and personal care items

Other items encouraged: laundry detergent, household cleaning items, paper towels, and toilet paper

GLOBAL SCHOOL PLAY DAY

Coolidge School students will be joining students from around the world in Global School Play Day on Friday, February 9th. On this day, students will spend time engaging in unstructured play. Your child’s teacher will reach out to you with more specific information for the day.  We are excited about this great learning opportunity for our students to develop their social skills, innovation, and creativity through play.

VALENTINE’S DAY

Valentine’s Day will be approaching shortly. As a reminder, food or goody bags are not permitted to be brought into school to be shared with classmates. Students in grades K-3 typically give a card to each classmate (be sure there is a card for each child in the class). No food may be attached to the cards but, if you want, students may attach a simple non-edible item such as a sticker or a pencil. Students in grades 4-5 do not exchange cards in school but teachers celebrate the holiday with their students in different ways.

AUTHOR VISIT- ROBERT SKEAD

Thanks to the generosity of the PTO, we are going to have a second author visit this year. Robert Skead, a former Coolidge student and current Wyckoff resident, will be coming on March 8th for the culminating activity during Read Across America Week. Students will get to hear how a student who used to sit in the very same gym went on to become an author. Once again, you will have the opportunity to order autographed books if you want them. Please return the book order form by February 28 to Mrs. Needleman if you are interested.
