I hope our Coolidge students and families had a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend. As we move into December there are a few Wyckoff town events that have been shared with the school. There will be a Menorah Lighting on the Borough's front lawn on December 7th at 6:00 pm and there will be Santa visits and a tree lighting on December 1st.
The first trimester ends on Wednesday, December 6th. Report cards will be available for grades 1-5 via the Genesis Parent Portal on 12/15/23 after 3:00 PM.
Are you looking to help others this holiday season? The Coolidge Student Council will be partnering with One Warm Coat to host a Holiday Coat Drive! Families are encouraged to donate gently used coats to benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Paterson. There is a large need for children's coats, but all sizes will be accepted. The drive will be held from November 27th to December 1st. Students should bring the coats to school and drop them in the collection bin near the front entrance.
4th and 5th-grade students are getting ready for the 2023 Holiday Soloist Showcase on December 14th. This show gives our brave students a chance to show off their talents and skills at a soloist level! 3rd graders are also getting ready to sing out their voices on December 19th in this year's Winter Chorus Concert titled "Believe" where we celebrate our differences, recognizing that our beliefs help make us who we are. Our K-2 students are finishing up our Rhythm Unit in class. We have been reading, playing, and creating so many fun rhythms together.
Most art classes have just finished up their self-portraits. In this project, children examine their “self” in the mirrors on the art tables. We learn some basic drawing techniques and how to look carefully at all our features. Students used a variety of mediums such as pencils, colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels, and paint to complete their artwork. All self-portraits will be hung in the classrooms for the entire school year.
This year our 4th and 5th grade students used this drawing time to complete their Legacy Tile Project in collaboration with our PTO. We have been working together for many years to create a border of self-portraits wrapping around the school. Each student and teacher can create a tile of their own. The Legacy Tile Project is a favorite of alumni when they come back to visit as they love finding their self-portraits hanging in the halls of the school!
