SCHOOL PICTURE DAY

School Picture Day is Monday, October 16th (outdoors). Here is a message from Rod Bolten Photography…

Rod Bolten Photography will be offering online ordering and proofing for picture day. No order forms will be distributed prior to picture day. After photos are taken we will email you a link to view and purchase your child’s photos. All photos will be mailed directly to your home. Please allow 1-2 weeks after picture day to receive your child’s photo link. Please email us at rodboltenphotography@gmail.com if you have any questions.

HALLOWEEN

Our Halloween Parade will take place at 2:30 pm on 10/31. As there will be a lot of parents on hand, please be sure to plan enough time so you can park safely and legally. Once the lot is filled you will need to park in the streets adjacent to the school. Please be considerate of our neighbors on these streets.

K-1 students may wear their costumes to school in the morning. Students in grades 2-5 are asked to bring their costumes to school and change into them after lunch. If it is easier for 2-5 students to wear part of their costume to school that is fine as long as they are able to safely navigate around. Costumes should not include guns, knives, or similar pieces and should be appropriate for elementary school-aged children.

Class parents will be joining classrooms at some point during the day to engage the students with a fun game, activity, or craft (class parents should refer to the email sent by the PTO class parent chairs). No food will be served in school. We ask parents not to send in any treats or goodie bags (edible or non-edible) with their children as teachers are not permitted to distribute those to the students.

 PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

Please be on the lookout for an email from your child’s homeroom teacher to sign up for a parent-teacher conference on November 6th or 13th. Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on November 6th from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and November 13th from 2:00-7:00 PM.

There will be no school for students on 11/6 and a minimum day on 11/13. If you would like any other staff members present please let your child’s teacher know. Additionally, feel free to reach out to any special area teacher or other staff member via email to set up a separate conference with them. The Staff Directory can be found here

ATTENDANCE AND EARLY DISMISSAL

As a reminder, we are required to code absences due to vacation as unexcused and must report it as such as part of our official reporting for Coolidge School to the New Jersey Department of Education. Additionally, teachers are not able to provide work or assignments for students who are out of school due to family vacations. Please keep the above in mind when planning vacations and, preferably, schedule vacations for when school is not in session.

Additionally, whenever possible, please schedule appointments (doctor, dental, etc.) for your child(ren) outside of school hours. By all means you are welcome to pick up our child(ren) when needed. However, we have seen an increase in children being signed out during school hours which causes a disruption to learning for the individual child and for the class as a whole.

5TH GRADE INTRAMURALS- Letter from Mrs. McCurry

Dear Parents/Guardians of Students in Grade 5,

Coolidge School is pleased to announce the first session of the After School Intramural Sports Program for the 2023-2024 school year. The intramural program is an extension of physical education classes, allowing the students to use skills learned in class and extend the skills to a game experience. The focus of the program is cooperative team play and sportsmanship.

Intramural games will be held Tuesdays & Thursdays at 3:20 p.m. Pick-up will be at 4:05 p.m. by the side gymnasium doors. This session of intramurals will begin on Tuesday, October 17th. The game schedule will be released following the collection of permission slips. Team rosters will be a combination of grade 5 students.

Please complete the Google survey by Monday, October 16th if your child will participate in Session 1 of intramurals. Click here to access the survey.

I’m looking forward to a safe and exciting intramural experience! If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at: cmccurry@wyckoffschools.org
