At last week’s Board of Education Meeting, Mrs. Semendinger and Mrs. Levine were honored and recognized for their years of service to the Wyckoff Schools and were congratulated on their well-deserved upcoming retirement. We wish both Mrs. Semendinger and Mrs. Levine health and happiness in retirement. They will both be sorely missed!
At last week’s final PTO Meeting, we welcomed our new Executive Board and thanked our outgoing Board for their service. At this time I would like to thank all of the parent volunteers who have partnered with the teachers, students, and the school this year. We appreciate all of your support!
CLASS OF 2016 REUNION
On June 8th, Coolidge School welcomed back our Class of 2016 students (current high school seniors) for our annual Reunion. Forty-eight former students came back to visit. They enjoyed reading to classes, walking the hallways, watching a video, eating some ice cream, and, of course, taking a lot of photos. An impromptu “wall-ball” game even broke out. We wish these students best of luck in college and beyond. Once a Cougar, always a Cougar.
WEF “BACK TO SCHOOL” COLOR FUN RUN & FAMILY PICNIC
I am very excited to share that the Wyckoff Education Foundation (WEF) has announced a “Back to School” Color Fun Run on September 9, 2023. This will be the official kick off of the school year for the entire community. Celebration will start with a color run around the perimeter of Eisenhower Middle School, followed by a family picnic with food trucks. Packets will be sent home with more information. Click here to see more details on the event:
Additionally, there is some friendly competition among the 5 schools:
• “Top School for Donations Raised” Receives a $500 Bonus to their PE program
• “Winners Circle”: Top 3 – 5 students from each school get to:
- Stand with DJ and shout - “Runners start your race!”
- “Blast” their principal with color
Obviously, we want to win the “Top School for Donations”! Please help us get there! Every little bit counts! Funds will be used across the Wyckoff School District to fund scholastic programs outside of the school budget. Let’s win this! What a great way to start the new year!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out directly to WEF at info@wefnj.org or 201-977-2885.
FLAG DAY CEREMONY- JUNE 14TH
On Wednesday, June 14th Coolidge School will hold its traditional Flag Day Celebration as all students gather around the Flag Pole/Peace Pole for a special ceremony of patriotic songs and Student Council speeches. All students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue on this day.
KINDERGARTEN CELEBRATION
Last week we welcomed the parents of our current Kindergarten students into the classroom for a celebration of all the learning that has taken place during their first year as students at Coolidge School. Students had a checklist and they were in charge of walking their parents throughout the classroom and hallway to show them all of the wonderful work and learning that has taken place. Parents were also treated to several songs performed by the students. We cannot wait to see how our youngest students grow and develop as Coolidge Cougars!
SCHOOL CALENDAR
As a reminder, at a recent Board of Education meeting, the Board revised the student calendar due to the two unused snow days. As a result, the last day of school for students will now be on Tuesday, June 20th. The last three days of school will be minimum days with dismissal at 1:05.
