As a reminder, at a recent Board of Education meeting, the Board revised the student calendar due to the two unused snow days. As a result, the last day of school for students will now be on Tuesday, June 20th. The last three days of school will be minimum days with dismissal at 1:05. Here is a link to the revised 2022-2023 school calendar.

LION KING- 4TH AND 5TH GRADES
We invite Fourth Grade families to join us for opening night, Tuesday, May 23rd @ 7 PM. Fifth Grade families may join us for closing night, Wednesday, May 24th @ 7 PM. "House" doors for both performances will open around 6:30 after sound check. Due to spacing in the "theatre," we ask that families only attend their assigned nights. All students in grades K-3 will see the show in school on Tuesday afternoon. Fourth and fifth-grade parents/students should refer to emails from Mr. Cosman for additional information about the show.
MUSIC UPDATE- MR. COSMAN
Kindergarten through 2nd grade continues to learn the FUNdamentals of music. This month, Kinder has been focused on Dynamics and has really enjoyed playing the game Find It, where students sing louder as the "seeker" of the game gets closer to the hidden object in the room. 1st grade has focused on Tempo and has been working on recognizing different speeds of the beat, while 2nd grade just began to revisit Pitch Studies in our Melody unit. 3rd graders continue to prepare for their Recorder Choir Concert in June by testing their recorder skills and singing through our new Advanced Recorder Packets. The 4th and 5th graders are in the final days of preparation for The Lion King Jr. and are very excited to be sharing their work with everyone this Tuesday and Wednesday.
ART UPDATE- MRS. BOYLE
All grade levels are working on finishing up their weaving/sewing projects. The weaving unit introduces elementary school students to the fascinating world of textile art through the technique of weaving. Students will explore the history, materials, and processes involved in weaving while developing their creativity, fine motor skills, and understanding of patterns and textures. This unit encourages students to experiment with various materials and techniques to create unique woven artworks. By the end of this weaving unit, elementary school students will have gained a deeper appreciation for the art of weaving, acquired basic weaving skills, and created their own woven masterpieces. This unit fosters creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on artistic exploration while encouraging students to connect with diverse cultures and traditions through the universal language of textiles. I find that by the end of the weaving unit, most students are very eager for more weaving projects.
