students reading in the outdoor courtyard

Sunday is Mother's Day! Please join me in wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, grandparents, and caregivers in the Coolidge School Community.

As you may have seen on a recent Board of Education agenda, I would like to wish Mrs. Semendinger and Mrs. Levine the best wishes in the future as both will be retiring at the end of this school year. We will surely miss their service to Coolidge School and wish them health and happiness in their retirement!

INCOMING KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS

We look forward to welcoming our newest Coolidge Cougars to Kindergarten in September. Parents of all incoming Kindergarten students should have received an email from Dr. Postma with additional information, as well as an invitation for a Preview session later this school year. If you have not received this email please contact Mrs. Gneiding in the main office at 201-848-5710 or cgneiding@wyckoffschools.org

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UPDATE

The past couple of months have been filled with a range of activities. Students participated in Adventure Education which combined movement and problem-solving techniques. We have revisited skills learned earlier in the school year and have applied these skills in new activities to measure student growth. The fourth and fifth-grade students are self-monitoring movement goals each week during the "Movement Card'' warm-up. Students have also played some of our "fan favorite" games, such as Wizards, Battleship, See You Later Alligator, etc. Lastly, we have begun our Field Day preparation and our fourth-grade students have been participating in the After School Intramural Program.

2ND GRADE FIELD TRIP

Coolidge School second-grade students recently visited Greens Do Good in Hackensack, NJ for a field trip. Greens Do Good is New Jersey’s first vertical farm. On this trip, students explored and learned about hydroponic farming, including the science of how plants thrive in controlled indoor environments and energy-efficient technology and water conservation. Greens Do Good provide organic produce to local markets throughout Bergen County.

  6TH GRADE SUBSCRIPTION BUSING- EMS

A letter regarding 6th-grade subscription busing for Eisenhower Middle School was sent home with 5th-grade students this week. The Board of Education plans to offer fee-based subscription busing to students who do not qualify for mandatory busing. A copy of this letter can be found on our Friday Folder page.
