I hope all students and families had an excellent Winter Break. Quick reminder…consider signing up for the WEF Casino Night that will take place on March 2nd.
With the support and generosity of the entire school community, the Coolidge Student Council was able to collect and donate over 350 food and personal care items! These resources will be distributed to those in need by the Social Service Association of Ridgewood. This organization serves the local communities of Glen Rock, HoHoKus, Midland Park, Ridgewood, Waldwick, and Wyckoff. Go Cougars!
Registration for the 2023 Wyckoff Summer Academies opened on Monday, February 6th. The program will run during the month of July and is open to WSD students entering grades K-7. To view information on the program’s offerings and to register, visit our website at https://www.wyckoffps.org/page
READ ACROSS AMERICA AND SPIRIT WEEK
Coolidge School will be celebrating Read Across America during the week of February 27th to March 3rd. We have many fun activities planned that week including an outdoor book walk, schoolwide Book Buddies, and a schoolwide meeting led by our 5th grade Library Club. Additionally, we will have a spirit day every day. Mrs. Needleman told the students that they do not have to go out and buy anything for the spirit days--just use whatever they have around the house and their imagination!
SPIRIT WEEK:
Monday, Feb. 27
Let’s Cheer for Reading-wear spirit wear for our schoolwide meeting.
Tuesday, Feb. 28
Reading Gives You Superpowers. Wear a shirt with a superhero on it (no full costumes). If you don’t have one, we can give you a picture to tape to your shirt (or draw or print out your own at home). Or use a towel as a cape!
Wednesday, March 1
Cozy Up with a Good Book. Wear pajamas.
Thursday, March 2
Book Character Day. Dress up as a favorite book character. Many characters are just regular kids, so students can wear an outfit they think that character would wear and put on a nametag. They really can make their costumes as simple or complicated as they want!
Friday, March 3
Read My Shirt. Wear a shirt that needs to be read.
AUTHOR AND POET VISIT
Coolidge School is honored to have had author and poet Amy Ludwig VanDerwater join us for a writing assembly on February 15th for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders! We are excited to try the strategies she shared with us to generate ideas for writing and unleash the inner poet in all of us.
COOLIDGE FAMILY STEAM AFTERNOON- MARCH 23RD- 4:00-5:30 PM
As part of the Wyckoff Connected Parent Series, join Jodi Levine, technology specialist, Sue Needleman, media specialist, and Coolidge teachers in the Coolidge MPR as families explore a variety of STEAM activities and challenges. WYCKOFF EDUCATION FOUNDATION (WEF) - CASINO NIGHT
The Wyckoff Education Foundation’s annual Casino Night will be held on March 2nd from 7-11 pm at Macaluso’s in Hawthorne. Please consider joining the community for a fun and memorable evening of dinner, cocktails, a silent auction, and dancing. The Wyckoff Education Foundation (WEF) raises funds that support the educational mission of each of the five Wyckoff schools. I look forward to seeing many of our Coolidge families there!
