Update from Mr. Famularo

                                         Creating a Caring Community

September 24, 2020

Day One with our grade 3-5 students went well. I want to thank all parents for assistance with our arrival and dismissal and for following the plan put in place.

Reminder for K-2 parents for tomorrow...

  • If you have a K-1 student you may enter via the front circle with 1st grade in the main entrance and Kindergarten by the upper blacktop. Your "older child" would also be able to enter here as well.
  • If your youngest child is 2nd grade or above you should enter via the back of the school by the baseball field and use the side parking lot by the MPR.

Reminder for all parents...

Parents will not be permitted to park in the lots at school in the morning for drop-off as it will be too crowded and create unsafe conditions.

At the end of the day, our parking lot along the MPR will not open until 12:45 as we need the space for students on most days.

If your last name is A-L please exit the lot as soon as possible as we would like to open up space for last names N-Z. Additionally, students need to get home to eat, take a break, and to get back to work.

ARRIVAL: 8:35-8:45- A-L  and  8:45-8:55- M-Z

DISMISSAL:  12:55-1:05-  A-L AND 1:05- M-Z

Check out these aerial photos to illustrate arrival and dismissal procedures this year at Coolidge School.

Students will enter the arrival door and proceed directly to their classrooms. In their homeroom, students will engage in independent reading or work supervised by their homeroom teachers. Routines for this will be developed with students.

Teachers and other support staff will be in the hallway to assist students in getting to their classrooms and to promote social distancing.

To ease traffic and to facilitate social distancing and safe arrival at school, parents are strongly encouraged to walk to school if possible.

If parents are unable to walk they are asked to consider parking on one of the streets adjacent to the school and walking with your child to his/her entrance door.

DISMISSAL:  12:55-1:05- A-L AND 1:05- M-Z

Parents and caregivers are asked to pick up their youngest child first and arrange a meeting spot for their older children.

For K-1 Dismissal, parents will be asked to remain behind the fence on the upper blacktop. Students will be walked to the blacktop area where spot markers will be used to keep students physically distanced and then will be released to parents.

Cones or decals will be placed at all other dismissal locations to promote physical distancing. Please do not congregate. All students and parents are asked to leave school grounds once the pickup is complete. The playground and fields are closed until 3:20 as school is still in session.
